Come celebrate the "season of corn" at the Great Prairie Corn Maze Corn Fest over the Labour Day Weekend, September 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2011.
The festival is a family event with a cornucopia of corny activities including corn eating contests, corn mazes, face painting, corny jokes, veggie art and more. The festival features the Great Prairie Corn Maze, folk music, and hands-on corn doll craft activities for children.
Special features at Prairie Garden’s celebration include the Keith Remple Band from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., and Kompany Family Theatre at 2 pm.
Calling the event both entertaining and educational, Prairie Gardens’ Director of Fun, Tam Andersen said, “The Corn Fest helps visitors to Sturgeon County learn about the agriculture in the region, local food, while having fun solving the seven acre corn maze and learning about the gold rush!
There will be a full day of fun for families and kids of all ages. Do you have a particularly corny kid who loves to tell jokes? Bring your budding comedian to the Corny Kid Joke Contest. Kids can also take part in several fun farm activities such as the hay-bale art competition, which starts at 1:00 p.m.
The ‘Corncession’ will provide popular foods such as steamed sweet corn, cornbread, corn kebabs, and many other treats.
The Corn Fest runs from 10:00 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturday for Moonlight Maze Adventures, and 10 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and Holiday Monday.
Proudly sponsored by Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines, Travel Alberta, and Sturgeon County.
